Overview: Join a local fisherman on Victoria Lake in Digana for an immersive journey into traditional Sri Lankan fishing. Learn the secrets of fishing from an expert, enjoy the tranquil surroundings, and savor a homemade Sri Lankan lunch by the lakeside. Itinerary: Pickup & Welcome Guests are picked up from their accommodation and driven to Digana, where they’re warmly greeted by the local fisherman. Introduction to Traditional Fishing A brief overview of traditional fishing techniques unique to Sri Lanka, including insights into the tools and methods used. Lake Fishing Experience Embark on a traditional fishing boat with the fisherman. Guests learn to cast nets and fish using authentic techniques, with assistance from the fisherman. This experience offers a mix of hands-on learning and relaxation. Fresh Catch & Culinary Experience Return to shore, where guests participate in preparing a fresh, locally inspired lunch using the morning’s catch, guided by local cooks. This includes dishes with Sri Lankan spices, coconut-based curries, and fresh lake fish. Lunch & Lakefront Relaxation Enjoy a delicious lunch by the lake with a serene view of the water.
